Fundraising has always been a huge part of our ethos here at Oscha, and we know it is important to you too. Over the years, with the help of our customers, we have raised over £21,000 for some really special causes through fundraisers and charity dips. We have always supported charities whose aims are close to our hearts, but also those whose work holds a special meaning for our customers.
In addition to our fundraising efforts, a contribution from every sale of a baby wrap or carrier goes towards planting a tree in the Scottish Highlands. Learn more about our Reforestation Promise and watch our tree counter in the top banner as we grow our Oscha grove together!
Alongside this we have some items available for sale which continue to contribute money to some specially chosen causes. Read on to find out more about which causes your ethically made baby wrap is supporting.
Charity: British Red Cross
The British Red Cross helps people in the UK and around the world in crisis situations. Helping with disaster relief, supporting people in their own homes and with a mission to ease human suffering the British Red Cross is a humanitarian group which does invaluable work across the world.
Wing of Protection is the newest addition to our charitable wraps. It was designed by Oscha customer Lizhen Lin. To support this release of this baby carrier a donation was made by Oscha to the British Red Cross, and we are honoured to say that Lizhen also donated her fee for the design to this amazing charity.
A design whose symbolism reflects the infinite nature of a mothers love and the protective qualities of wrapping, this Wings of Protection wrap fits perfectly with the aims of the Red Cross. We are pleased to say that this wrap has had a fantastic response from parents who have really connected with the message behind the design as well as the fact that it is supporting such a good cause.
Charity: Habitat for Humanity
About: Habitat for Humanity is a global, nonprofit housing organisation with over 40 years of experience. They empower people in the world’s poorest communities to overcome the chronic lack of decent, affordable housing. Habitat for Humanity brings relief to people around the world helping to solve the ‘silent emergency’ of inadequate and unsafe housing.
Designer Ali Yee, first contacted Oscha in 2014 after Typhoon Haiyan had hit the Philippines. Designed as a charity wrap in response to this disaster, Visayas continues to raise money for this worthwhile cause. £20 from the sale of each Visayas wraps or ring sling goes straight to Habitat for Humanity, we are proud to be supporting a charity which does amazing work proving safe housing for families around the world.
Ali Yee’s designs are inspired by her Filipino heritage and are based on traditional tattoo patterns. Ali is a member of Tatak Ng Apat Na Alon, a modern day tribe which celebrates the renaissance of traditional Filipino tribal tattoos. Since 2014 Ali has worked on 2 more designs for Oscha, Katican & Selkie, both of which have quickly become customer favourites.
Charity: Trees for Life
About: The aim of Trees for Life is to restore the Caledonian Forest the Scottish Highlands. Through the regeneration of native species, by installing fencing to prevent overgrazing by deer population, and by planting native saplings Trees for Life aims to reforest the Caledonian Forest to reintroduce native animals back into the environment.
Environmental responsibility is at the core of Oscha, we only use responsibly sourced and organic yarns, power our Scottish workshop with solar power and strive to have as little environmental impact as possible. With that in mind Trees for Life is an important local charity for us.
10% of the profits from the sale our organic cotton Eco Bags go to Trees for Life, this charity is doing amazing work replanting and restoring the ancient Caledonian forest and we are proud to be supporting this return to nature and the effect it will have on our landscape and atmosphere.
On top of the amazing work you are supporting by purchasing one of our organic bags, each Eco Bag replaces the need for over 600 disposable plastic bags. We are passionate at Oscha about reducing the impact of single-use plastic on our planet and our Eco Bags are one of our favourite ethically accessories.
We are proud to be supporting these charities and our passion for this charitable work continues, but we wouldn’t be able to support these causes without the help of our wonderful customers. Your generosity and support of our work, and the work of our charities is what has made this all possible. So thank you to everyone who has contributed so far, and to those who will contribute in the future!
