What is a Ring Sling?

Ring slings are made from a length of intricately woven fabric, secured on the shoulder through a set of rings.
Quick to use, they are perfect for carrying your child on short trips and for children who like to be up and down often.

Lightweight & Elegant

The elegant style of an Oscha ring sling is wonderful for special occasions such as christenings and weddings. They are lightweight & pack up small, making for an amazing tool for the busy parent.

Ring slings are suitable from birth through to toddlerhood.

Healthy Hips

The Oscha ring slings have been approved by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute as a ‘Hip Healthy’ product, this means it will hold your child in the ‘M’ position which is optimum for hip development.

Shoulder Construction

Oscha ring slings come with two shoulder options, Pleated and Gathered, to best suit your unique shape and carry style.
Learn more about these styles and find out which one is best for you on our blog.

  • Highland Pleat

Our unique Highland Pleated shoulder was exclusively developed by Oscha, inspired by the Kingussie Kilt with its use of both box and knife pleats, it ensures an even distribution of weight and a streamlined aesthetic. Often the best option for those with narrower shoulders.

  • Gathered

The Gathered shoulder is widely used and is a tried and tested favourite. This shoulder style is less structured than the Pleated shoulder as the fabric is gathered directly through the rings with no folds, allowing you to spread the fabric over the shoulder for better weight distribution & adjustability.

Left or Right?

Our fades of colour and some patterns are directional, meaning the slings have a top and a bottom. If this is the case, you will be given a ‘left-hand’ or ‘right-hand’ option.
Choose left-hand if you want the rings to sit on your left shoulder and choose right-hand if you prefer the rings on your right. For non-directional patterns & one solid colour slings, a ring sling can be worn on either shoulder.

Ring slings are most commonly used for hip and front carries, although back carries with toddlers are possible.

Learn How

Choosing a Fabric Type for Your Ring Sling

Aside from the pattern and colours, the two main things to consider when choosing a fabric for your sling
are blend and weight, as these will affect how the material will feel and behave.

  • Fabric Blend

Different fabric compositions (yarns) have different qualities, including softness, grippiness and glide. Your choice of blend will also affect how warm/cool your sling is. Some slings are made from 1, 2 or even 3 different yarns. A 100% Cotton sling is generally considered to be a good all-rounder.

  • Fabric Weight

GSM (Grams per Square Metre) is an indication of the weight and density of a sling. The density of a sling can affect how the wrap ties & feels when worn; breathability, warmth, ease of tying & grip. A density of between 230gsm and 280gsm is widely considered to be a medium weight.
