Using a Ring Sling with an Infant

This is the same as using a ring sling with an older baby but with a few tweaks –

  • Keep baby’s legs in a natural ‘M’ shape whilst ensuring that hips are not over spread.
  • Make sure the fabric is drawn up to the base of the occiput so that baby’s head is supported.

You are essentially tightening the sling around the natural position the baby wants to be in and creating support where it is needed.

You can roll up a muslin and tuck it under the top edge of the fabric for extra cushioning for baby’s head.
